Analyzes and interprets documentation from medical records and completes accurate coding of ancillary diagnoses and procedural codes. They are responsible for ensuring there is appropriate documentation to support all assigned codes used for claim generation and financial transactions. This is a remote, work from home position.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(95%) Diagnostic and Procedure Coding

  • Translates diagnostic and procedural phrases utilized by healthcare providers into coded form
  • Performs accurate ICD-10, CPT & HCPCS coding for the following modalities:
  • CT & CTA, DEXA, General Fluoroscopy, Mammography, MRI & MRA, Ultrasound, X-ray
  • May support coding for additional modalities and procedures as assigned after training and proficiency has been proven
  • Ensures that charges are accurately posted to patient accounts in a timely manner
  • Consistently meets or exceeds documented department productivity and quality metrics.
  • Answers internal & external questions regarding billing and/or coding practices (denied claims; insurance companies, patients)
  • Follows up and corrects denied claims due to coding problems
  • Keeps abreast of all coding guidelines and reimbursement reporting requirements
  • Brings identified concerns to supervisor or department manager for resolution
  • Actively participates in weekly coding team meetings and discussions
  • (5%) Performs other duties as assigned

    Requirements

    Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPC-A, CPC, RCC, RHIT, RHIA or CCS-P Coding certification
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience
  • Proficient with using computer systems and typing
  • Preferred:

  • 1 year coding experience
  • Radiology specialty coding experience
  • 1-2 years Revenue Cycle Management experience
