We do that be bringing humanity, elegance and ease to the consumer banking experience. And we make banking beautiful.

The Job:
As a Quantitative Analyst at Simple, you’ll work with the Finance and Decision Science teams to provide insight into how the company is performing and unpack the drivers of that performance. You’ll also support Finance in answering their key data and modeling questions and work with other analysts across the company on cross-functional projects.

The Team:
The Finance team is a passionate bunch of people that tell the story of Simple’s past and future. We empower people to maximize our strategic objectives while looking after long-term sustainability.

Decision Science is a cross-functional team of data-loving analysts that delivers actionable insights to enable Simple and its leaders to make and measure decisions. We seek to arm Simple with objective, actionable information that helps move the business toward its goals. We do this by building a collaborative, data-driven community within Simple and providing compelling information that inspires change.

About You:
We want a coworker who has passion, humor, and a desire to learn in addition to excellent analytical skills. You value open, active collaboration and work well with others — helping teammates who need it, and asking for the help you need, in turn. You’re a quantitative, data-minded person who loves tackling intricate problems. You love telling stories with numbers. You take analytics questions and run with them, often adding your own new questions to the mix. You’re passionate about using data to improve decision-making, and you want to be part of an organization that’s building something meaningful.

What You’ll Do All Day:

  • Design and implement dashboards that enable the Finance team and others at Simple to self-serve on analytics questions
  • Monitor company performance and proactively develop deep dive analyses to derive insights into what’s driving that performance
  • Produce visuals and presentations to clearly and effectively communicate findings and present findings to stakeholders, including senior management and executive leadership
  • Develop quantitative analyses and models to support Simple’s long-term strategic planning and financial forecasting (e.g., lifetime value models, deposit models)
  • Partner with other analysts in the company to share results, coordinate on how Simple uses its data, and collaborate on projects (e.g., customer profitability analysis)

We’d Like to See:

  • 5+ years experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, economics, or related field
  • Experience using SQL or similar database languages; experience with Python, R or other statistical packages a plus
  • Consistent record of using data to tell a story and experience presenting results to stakeholders at all levels
  • Familiarity with web-based visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau or ChartIO
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with a record of inspiring action from data
  • Experience using statistics, econometrics, machine learning, or other quantitative techniques to develop models
  • Comfort with setting own analytics agenda and working independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, drive change, and collaborate effectively with a variety of individuals

Details:
We recognize the dire lack of diversity in our industry, and we’re not okay with it. We actively seek to address it with our hiring and retention process, as well as our office culture. We want a great coworker — passion, humor, and desire to learn matter more to us than raw technical chops. If you’re on the fence about whether you’re a fit, we say go for it, and apply!

Why Simple’s a great place to work:

  • Based in Portland, Oregon– a beautiful place to live and work.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • A supportive and nurturing place to work. We actively consider how we can improve employees’ quality of life–both inside and outside the office.
  • Committed to hiring quality human beings. Simple is a place where others will watch out for you and help you learn. We actually like and respect each other.
  • We give a damn about what we do, both as individual contributors and as a company on a mission to change banking. We’re passionate and nerdy about our work; in fact we’re kind of that way about things outside of work, too.
