The Plating Quality Inspector will be responsible for implementing quality controls within the plating/coating department to ensure the plating process is consistent and that components from assembly meet plating quality requirements. This role supports manufacturing, engineering, quality, and will offer continuous improvement insights to business processes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Review incoming materials for plating processes while verifying control processes which may include period testing

  • Work from blueprints and plating/coating specifications to complete visual part inspections

  • Use inspection instruments and test methods to ensure parts meet customer requirements

  • Maintain and monitor operating conditions of plating lines and chemical processes throughout the plating area

  • Perform quality control activities to ensure consistent processes through observation, testing, verifying conformance, and reporting technical aspects of assigned plating process/project

  • Inspect parts based on lot size requirements, verify test results and complete necessary required documentation

  • Develop and prepare work instructions, procedures, policies, forms and other QMS documentation

  • Generate and maintain corrective action/preventative action (CAPA) documentation and complete follow-up activities until closure

  • Collaborate with Plating team, Lab Technician and Production to resolve quality issues to ensure timely completion of corrective actions while actively safeguarding calibrated equipment

  • Demonstrate ownership, initiative and accountability for special projects

  • Support Quality Systems and NADCAP audits to help maintain certifications

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures and protocols

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience including plating and surface finishing related field/work experience

  • Experience or the ability to learn measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges as required

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and time management

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and oral

  • Experience and understanding of NADCAP and Aerospace/AS9100/ISO 9000 experience preferred

  • Knowledge of metal fabrication processes including, punching, forming, deburring, powder coating a plus

  • Understanding of LEAN manufacturing methods and techniques a plus

  • Experienced MS applications with ERP program a plus

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
