Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for gathering relevant, factual information and data in order to solve quality related problems. Resolve issues by identifying and applying solutions from acquired technical experience. Plan and lead projects by identifying and organizing activities with realistic timelines. Responsible for assuring products conform to established requirements and standards through auditing, inspecting, and testing activities. Interacts with other departments, suppliers, and experts outside company to implement Company Quality goals. Work will be performed in an office setting AND on the manufacturing floor. The successful candidate will be responsible for all automotive related customer relations and applications from start to finish; ranging from new model launch to mass production improvements. Minimum starting salary of $62,000 based on qualifications and experience.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership for quality engineering projects from concept through design, implementation, testing, documentation, support, and maintenance.
  • Provide positive supplier relations with the customer; participating in customer meetings and audits.
  • Perform capability studies and document the results for all program special characteristics, ensure that external and internal customer requirements are met.
  • Develops and implements corrective/preventative action plans; communicating with various departments to ensure quality specifications are met for the customer.
  • Collects and analyzes data for gauge and product evaluation.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in preparation and representation during all customer related quality audits and surveys.
  • Create training materials for new model products.
  • Improve the quality of the process, using data collected from the operations and applying problem solving techniques.
  • Maintain and distribute scrap reports; leading meetings to discuss countermeasures.
  • Keep plant personnel informed of quality related issues, as well as promote quality awareness throughout the manufacturing facility.
  • Create and maintain quality system policies, procedures, quality control process sampling systems, and statistical techniques.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • May be required to handle additional projects as required.
  • Practices high ethical and professional behavior when dealing with all associates or outside vendors.

Requirements:

  • B.S. In engineering or an alternative Bachelor’s degree program with certification in quality, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; with Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or above (preferred)
  • Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Experience with developing/documenting procedures
  • Must exhibit good organizational skills, good interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer software (Windows 2007, XP and Microsoft Office), computer hardware.
  • Possess expertise in qualitative research using the available software and statistical tools
  • Must be accurate in preparation of graphs, audits if required and test results
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Systems
  • Expert knowledge of blueprint reading
  • Expert knowledge of statistics, process control, and process capability
  • Full working knowledge of measuring techniques and gages
  • Establish and maintain healthy working relationships at all levels
  • Flexibility in work hours and daily job functions
