Public Relations/Marketing Associate

Instill Education’s mission is to transform teaching, learning and leadership in every classroom on the African continent. We are launching a higher education institution in South Africa (with plans to launch soon after in Kenya and eventually Nigeria) that will bring global best practice to teacher and school leadership development. We will become the beacon of excellence for teacher and school leadership development in Africa, driven by an innovative marketing engine and world-class educational programming. We seek a public relations and marketing associate to join our growing team and build this engine, initially in South Africa and Kenya but eventually across the continent.

What does the role entail?

As the public relations and marketing associate, you will be working with the director of marketing and business development to build out and execute our public relations, marketing and communications strategy. Your role is centred around growing our brand reputation, remote community building, user experience and engagement strategy. Specifically, you will:

Build and grow brand visibility, unifying our brand across all channels, increase social media presence across multiple platforms, updating and increasing traffic to our website, and creating an editorial calendar for content marketing.

Establish sustainable remote community building strategy to drive the recruiting of students to fill our first contact and distance cohorts! Basic UX principles would be beneficial to drive student experience strategy

Create and implement PR and marketing campaigns related to launching of products, new campus and other educational initiatives

We’re a small start-up. Your hands will get very dirty…creative solutions, sharing ideas, being able to work and share your challenges and achievements openly is important to work with our team

Content is king! You have exceptional writing and editing skills and will develop content for various platforms and audiences

Take ownership of our social media platforms. You will build out our content schedules and drive engagement both with our target audiences, and the wider education community, both in South Africa and across the continent. We are target and impact-driven, providing analytic reports and trends to make sure we reach our goals is key

Manage our website, including uploading content and reviewing for effectiveness brand, user experience and campaigns

Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders in the education ecosystem through both online and physical activities such as newsletters, events, webinars

  • As per any new institution, our accreditation is conditional to us meeting the physical, staffing and infrastructure requirements that our government partners require. This is a normal condition. IE’s priority now is finding the proper campus and a world-class team, so we can get ready to launch!

    You have experience working in a public relations (PR) and/or communications field preferably at account manager industry level (with relevant industry/corporate experience)

    You’ve been part of a high performing team and have experience in working on complex projects, various campaigns and across various audiences

    You have exceptional writing and editing skills

    You have experience in drafting and implementing PR/communications and marketing plans

    You have strong project management skills paired with the ability to synthesise information from a variety of sources

    You have experience of monitoring and evaluating analytics in order to reach target audiences

    You have the ambition to grow with the business and move into leadership positions

    You are an exceptional critical thinker with strong interpersonal communication skills

    You have the ability to work in an ever-changing environment as part of a multicultural team and are a solution based thinker

    You have a demonstrated passion for educational development, closing educational equity gaps, and are strongly aligned with our vision, mission and values
