Public Policy Intern

Paid, part-time Summer Internship available in a non-partisan government relations and public affairs firm located in downtown Madison, WI. This internship is a great fit for students that are interested in government, politics, or communications. Hours are flexible.

Students will benefit from work inside a public affairs firm, working with groups, legislators, and press to gain first-hand knowledge in the world of public policy. Intern duties will include: Monitor state legislation; Draft and edit e-mails, reports and presentations; Scheduling; Research and other miscellaneous projects as needed; Answer multi-line telephone, administrative duties as assigned

The ideal candidate should be:

• Actively enrolled in a four year university

Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

• Be able to work independently and succeed in a multi-task environment
• Pay attention to detail and have good organizational skills
• Have working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel and Publisher
• Experience with website management and social media
• Design and website development skills desirable
