Job Description

Responsible for the planning, directing, and coordination of activities for Web Services for a team that develops and supports web services that are consumed by multiple client systems across American Airlines. Primarily focus will be on the services that support the Customer Technology systems (aa.com, Self Service Devices, Mobile Apps, etc.) Agile experience is a must as well practical knowledge of a broad set of project management methodologies. Ability to communicate, prioritize, and coordinate with multiple client systems is also required. Common Services is a team that engages with many programs and projects across the company. We act like a sub-contractor to these projects. We may represent 10% of a project effort, so our role is to fit into the overall timeline and address service scope as defined by that program or project. This results in our team members being assigned to several projects at the same time. We generally have small (< 500 hours) efforts on many projects, so our team members need to be fairly nimble and possess the ability to work in more of an Agile Kanban environment rather than to be dedicated to a single effort for an extended period of time.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Define project scope and resource requirements
  • Create Delivery Timelines and Estimate Dates and Costs
  • Create project plans, facilitate and coordinate project activity
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies, set Priorities, resolve conflicts and remove roadblocks
  • Review deliverables with management team and acquire necessary approvals
  • Develop and interpret organizational goals, policies and procedures
  • Execute project or processes
  • Monitor and report on project activities
  • Control scope, budget and timeline aspects of projects or enhancements
  • Remove or escalate barriers preventing team from succeeding

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • First and foremost, the Project Manager should model ethical behaviors
  • 5+ years of progressive broad-based software delivery experience
  • Knowledge of diverse sets of PM tools
  • Knowledge in both Waterfall and Agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge in managing with Test Driven Development (TDD) & Continuous Integration methodologies is a plus!
  • Superior communication & organization skills
  • Positively influence individuals and team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback
  • Exercises independent judgment and ability to do so without supervision
  • Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in typical Microsoft Office products
  • Experience working with offshore resources
