Job Summary

The Enterprise Catastrophe Strategy & Analysis group is seeking an individual to join our Catastrophic Model Project Management Office unit. You will be joining a department of dedicated professionals charged with leading Travelers to be in position to endure catastrophic loss from natural and man-made perils. The Project Management Office function is responsible for annual planning and approval of Enterprise and Business Unit projects, continued reporting of planned vs. actual resourcing across the portfolio of projects as well as project management of a number of critical projects.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

This position is the primary point of accountability to Business partners and other parties for the management and implementation of medium sized Projects and/or small Programs that support achievement of moderately complex unit or corporate goals.

The Project Manager controls planning and execution of the Project’s activities and resources to ensure that established cost, time, and quality goals are met. The Project Manager works with moderate supervision and is responsible for applying Project Management knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to Project deliverables, processes, and systems in order to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations. The Project Manager operates within defined parameters using a proven Project Management Methodology with flexibility to merge different methodologies in accomplishing collective goals.

Specific Job Responsibilities

Participate in identification and planning of yearly portfolio of projects to meet Enterprise and Business Unit needs

Coordinate and lead meetings across Enterprise CAT Leadership team to define and document project scope, dependencies, risks and charters to clearly define scope, deadlines and resourcing requirements

Participate in CAT Committee sessions to validate and approve coming year projects vs. resource capacity and priorities

Own and manage from a functional perspective resource tracking tool to estimate and report on project to Department Leadership Team across actual vs. plan hours across Department resources, helping resolve resource conflicts

Project manage 3 to 5 key Enterprise and/or Business Unit projects, including ownership of the project plan, project meetings and project follow-up to ensure timely and successful project completion

Perform Business Continuity planning and coordination across key Enterprise Department processes

Position does not directly manage others.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of related work experience

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge

Undergraduate degree in a Business Administration, Project Management Certifications a plus.

Working knowledge of property insurance and claim

Ability to leverage business knowledge to determine approaches to execution.

Basic understanding of CAT modeling concepts a plus

Experience managing software development projects based on either Agile or Waterfall approaches a plus

Job Specific & Technical Skills & Competencies

Intermediate to expert working knowledge of Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Access, Excel and SharePoint.

Exceptional reasoning and critical thinking, organizational and project management skills, verbal and written communications.

Acute ability to build and leverage internal and external partnerships; effective influence collaborating skills needed for a cross functional, Team-oriented environment.
