POSITION: PROJECT MANAGER-ESTIMATOR

REPORTS TO: DEPARTMENT HEAD / OWNERS

BASIC FUNCTION

The Project Manager will provide overall direction and leadership for an entire project through initial design development and estimating to final project closeout. This position will fully implement and manage the operation and administration of the project including building and maintaining lasting relationships with clients, design teams and subcontractors. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of General Excavating.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares bids and estimates for work to be completed in accordance with plan and specifications
• Estimates production and total cost based upon project plans/specs and take off information
• Overall responsibility for success and completion of project
• Responsible for job profit and cash flow
• Leads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and commitment to an injury-free environment
• Mentor Project Foreman and field personnel
• Manage job site supervisory personnel
• Coordinate subcontractors process and review shop drawings
• Plan and schedule project
• Owner and architect/engineer contact negotiation and administration
• Owner relations
• Purchase materials
• Manage overall job site safety
• Verify invoice and analyze inventory
• Survey construction job site
• Update as-built documents
• Track, audit and project labor
• Complete daily and periodic report updates

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or equivalent related work experience
• 3-5+ years estimating experience
• Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) and Scheduling software
• Strong working knowledge of estimating software
• Strong working knowledge of civil engineering principles
• Strong working knowledge of construction principles and equipment capabilities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
