The Office of Metropolitan Impact (OMI) (see: https://umdearborn.edu/business-community/office-metropolitan-impact ) supports and creates programs to engage students, faculty and community partners in mutually beneficial activities that impact southeast Michigan. We seek out and broker strategic community partnerships, provide faculty seed grants and facilitate connecting faculty, staff and students to meaningful engagement opportunities. We also host Public Allies Metro Detroit (PAMD), an AmeriCorps leadership development service program at UM-Dearborn.

Responsibilities*
OMI is seeking a personable project coordinator to provide the following range of duties and responsibilities:

  • Office-Wide Scheduling Support: responsible for scheduling meetings; appointments; teleconferences; Ford Collaboratory events/activities; and related. Provide the Executive Director with executive scheduling and related administrative support.
  • Office Management Duties : Maintain and order office supplies; maintain copier and other office equipment as needed; open and close the Ford Collaboratory on a daily basis; support Ford Collaboratory usage by faculty, community partners, and others; answer main telephone line and take messages for staff members; copy, print and compile packets and related materials for events activities, and meetings.
  • Filing & Organization of Office Records: Maintain record keeping for OMI; track invoices, purchase requisitions, payroll changes, etc.; assist staff with organizing office records and files.
  • Writing/Proofreading/Copyediting/Agenda Preparation: Assist staff with routine writing support, e.g., draft staff and advisory meeting agendas; and draft engagement-related stories and vignettes for newsletters and website.
  • Event Planning Support: order and manage catering for events; draft event tasks and related activities; and help to ensure event preparation and related duties are carried out in a timely fashion.
  • Time Keeping : Serve as delegate responsible for approving staff time and attendance.
  • Concur: Responsible for all OMI and PAMD Concur-reporting requirements and approvals.
  • Purchasing: Create and track requisitions, purchase orders, and vouchers.
  • Seed Grants: Support staff in announcing, receiving, recording, organizing, vetting, and distributing seed grants to faculty and staff.
  • Public Allies Invoicing: In close collaboration with Financial Specialist Associate, set up and manage system for invoicing and tracking receipt of PAMD Nonprofit Partner Organization (NPO) financial contributions, per individual university-NPO contracts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Two to three years of progressively responsible administrative and/or project coordinator/management experience required, 3-5 years preferred. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative team setting with enthusiasm and creativity preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking/analytical skills and an ability to be resourceful.
  • Keen interest in community organizing, community engagement and interaction with members of the community.
  • Two to three years of experience within the University of Michigan system is preferred.
  • Experience working with data and spreadsheets, as well as a working knowledge and experience of the operation and application of Microsoft Word and Excel.
