Program Specialist, Montana Campus Compact (MTCC)

The Program Specialist (Program Coordinator I) with Montana Campus Compact (MTCC) is responsible for new site development and member recruitment for MTCC’s AmeriCorps and VISTA programs. They will design and implement training curriculum and providing professional development for program participants. MTCC orients several classes of AmeriCorps and VISTA members each year, with over 100 (full-year, student and Summer Associate) members serving throughout Montana in the areas of K-12 success, postsecondary access, college completion and veterans and military family support initiatives.

This position is responsible for leading candidate recruitment processes for AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps VISTA programs; overseeing new applicant intake processes for AmeriCorps and VISTA programs; overseeing all AmeriCorps member time keeping systems, creating tools for participants, and monitoring compliance; working with funders for host site approval and service opportunity listings within Egrants system; managing all logistical needs for training and special programmatic events; collaborating with MTCC staff to coordinate statewide and regional training events; leading semi-annual Community Building Institute, including presenter recruitment, publicizing the event, registration, etc; and evaluating implementation and delivery of other Compact initiatives.

This position is also responsible for maintaining compliant criminal history checks for all national service participants and staff; identifying and seeking out new sources of revenue for MTCC’s programs; providing professional support for data collection, aggregation, publication, dissemination; contributing to the preparation and publication of MTCC’s Annual Report and other publications; contributing to the development and maintenance of MTCC’s website (mtcompact.org), blog and social media; and developing content related to training resources, member service reflections and partnership development for MTCC programs and coordinates publishing to the organization’s website.

Required Skills and Education

Professional experience in a nonprofit and/or higher education setting

Program and/or project leadership and management experience

Strong organizational skills

Knowledge and experience with staff or volunteer recruitment

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including excellent public speaking skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations and stakeholders

Strong computer skills, including proficiency with office hardware (computers, telephones, printers, scanners) and software, including the following Microsoft products: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher

Knowledge about Montana culture and communities, including experience in the higher education and nonprofit sectors

Ability to travel throughout the state as needed

Ability to work independently and maintain consistent office hours, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, throughout the calendar year (including summers)

Minimum Required Experience

Experience to perform at this level is typically acquired with a High School diploma and three (3) years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field

AmeriCorps, VISTA or Peace Corps service experience

Experience with Campus Compact

Experience with campus-community partnerships and civic engagement

Training experience

Grant writing experience

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students and colleagues

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year

Salary: $13.083/hr – Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan, and may be different from the posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department .

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
