Role Summary

The position of Program Management (PM) will be responsible for leading and managing programs and projects within a Business Segment. Programs will range in complexity and will include both hardware and software systems as well as Subsystems. The role will require close alignment with the Business Segment lead(s) and will be responsible for ensuring the customer deliverables (internal and external) are met. Ownership and accountability of schedule, cost, resources, and risk are primary responsibilities of the role. Program responsibility will encompass the entire life cycle of the program including planning, execution, delivery, installation, certification, and support.

The PM will work closely with the account managers, product managers, and customers to understand their needs and act as the primary interface to the organization. He/she must be able to represent the capabilities of the company as well as the needs of the customer. Good customer skills and executive reporting capability are required.

The ability to lead multifunctional engineering teams and closely collaborate with all functional areas including engineering, logistics, procurement, and contracts is a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead complex programs and sub-projects with responsibility, accountability, and ownership of schedule, cost, resources, and risks.
  • Responsible and accountable for a portfolio of programs and projects
  • Develop close working relationship and alignment with sales, marketing, engineering, finance, procurement, and other functional areas
  • Provide strong leadership, organization, and program management skills to the organization
  • Develop, own and manage cost/budget for his/her programs
  • Support RFPs, bids, and proposals as needed
  • Leverage technical background to become subject matter expert for assigned programs
  • Present program status to external customers and internal executives as needed
  • Gain a solid understanding of company capabilities and represent them to external and internal customers
  • Create close relationships with customers and represent their needs to the organization

Key Accountabilities

  • Successful execution of internal development and customer programs, including schedule and cost.
  • Periodic reviews to executive and internal stakeholders, accurately representing status, issues, and plans
  • External reviews to customers representing status, issues, and plans

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline, Information Technology, Computer Science or Business
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus
  • At least 3 years of Project Management experience leading multi-disciplined engineering teams in a technical environment
  • Knowledgeable of Satcom systems for connectivity, communications, and media
  • Knowledge of VSAT, IP Networks, and telecom
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools with the ability to create or tailor processes when needed

Skills/Interests

  • Ability to work independently and successfully with minimal oversight
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to explain complex subject matter in simple but accurate terms
  • Ability to work under pressure with aggressive deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office tools including Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
