The Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI) is one of South Africa’s largest independent, interdisciplinary research institutes. Specification
AHRI is looking for a Professional Research Nurse who will be based at our Somkhele site. The successful candidate will work within the framework of the POP-C study (Vukuzazi). The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for implementing the core Vukuzazi protocol and its associated studies. The successful candidate will be expected to follow procedures according to study protocols and to provide high quality clinical care to participants and other clients as appropriate in support of the Department of Health.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS

1.Senior certificate (Grade 12).
2.Diploma or Degree in Clinical Nursing Science, Health assessment, Treatment and care (PHC)
3.Current registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC
4.Valid driver’s License
5.Computer Literacy (MS Office – Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
6.Fluency in English and Zulu

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

1.A minimum of 5 years recognizable nursing experience after registration as professional nurse with SANC.
2.A minimum of 2 years NIMART training and experience.
3.A minimum of 2 years’ experience of providing HIV and TB treatment and care.
4.A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Primary Healthcare Clinic or facility.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1.Basic counselling and interviewing skills.
2.Good communication and interpersonal skills.
3.Knowledge of and experience in HIV treatment and care.
4.Previous clinical research experience e.g. working in a clinical research project.
5.Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, flexible and a good team player.
6.Good problem-solving skills.
7.Responsiveness, professionalism, supportive and assertive.
8.Well organized and possession of the ability to plan effectively and efficiently.

ADDED ADVANTAGES

1.Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
2.Clinical research experience or familiarity with clinical research data collection.
3.Experience in staff supervision.
4.Knowledge of current health and public service legislation, regulation and policies.
5.Understanding of basic ICD-10 Coding.
6.Ability to pay close attention to detail.
7.Ability to document information accurately and methodically.
8.Ability to work independently and show initiative
