Professional Nurse

Purpose of the Job

• The overall health & safety of the donor
• Medically screened donors, accepts or defers resulting in the collection of safe blood
• Ensuring professionalism and safe, hygienic conditions for performing successful blood collection
• All medical related decisions and overall functioning of the clinic

Minimum Requirements

• Matriculation Certificate
• Diploma in Nursing Science
• Registered with the SA Nursing Council
• Venepuncture/Phlebotomy experience is essential – preferably gained in an ICU or Trauma unit
• Previous Blood Transfusion experience would be an added advantage
• Computer Literate
• Good interpersonal skills
• Have a friendly disposition and willingness to “go the extra mile”
• Accuracy in data collection
• A code 8 driver’s licence without endorsements
• Fully bilingual – English and Afrikaans
• Must be able to work as part of a team
• Skilled in customer services and the ability to deal with the public
• Assist with promotional/administrative activities as needed
• The working hours are variable i.e. shift basis
• Be prepared to relocate to Paarl/ Wellington area
