JOB DESCRIPTION

The Product Manager role is a critical component of the Product Strategy and Design team, tasked to ensure that the mission-critical platforms and solutions offered by MediSked, LLC exceed industry standards for leading-edge features, design, performance, availability, and security. This role supports the Software Development Life Cycle, leading design of features, modules, and assisting in improvement of quality and time to market of the product development process. The successful candidate will possess a background in software design, wireframe development, solution architecture, project management, requirements gathering, data flow and data modeling, process mapping, application development, service level agreements, and technical writing.

In order to be successful, the Product Manager must be able to operate independently and strategically, leveraging the appropriate tools, skills, and strategies to identify new market opportunities and make data-driven recommendations to evolve MediSked’s solution suite. The Product Manager is expected to be a key contributor to MediSked’s sales and business development process, applying knowledge of MediSked platforms and the human services industry to collaborate internally and with existing clients or sales prospects on solution architecture and system design.

The Product Manager will report to the Director of Product Strategy and Design, and will be responsible for product management responsibilities across one or more platforms in MediSked’s solution suite. This position may be filled in MediSked’s Rochester, New York or Silver Spring, Maryland office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Grow Solution Suite and Expand Markets:

MediSked is committed to designing best in class products and software solutions that are ahead of the industry curve and exceed client expectations. In order to accomplish this, the Product Manager must combine subject matter expertise, strategic planning, and a proven track record collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to architect, champion, and manage the delivery of best-in-class, “right-size-fit” software solutions.

  • Collaborate with MediSked’s Compliance, Sales, and Business Development disciplines to identify regulatory requirements and market needs to drive innovation and opportunity across business development swim lanes
  • Contribute to sales and business development activities, including requests for information/requests for proposal (RFI/RFP) submissions, product demonstrations, solution architecture workshops, and scope of work reviews
  • Be a critical thinker and problem solver, considering technical and business needs, requirements, and trade-offs
  • Develop clear specifications to explain technical ideas and designs to external customers and sales prospects; this may include making presentations, influencing decisions, and navigating change
  • Research new industry product trends that will ensure MediSked is maintaining its strategically competitive edge in the marketplace; collaborate as necessary with internal MediSked organizations, external partners, and the MediSked Advisor Council to ensure platform features reflect and advance industry trends and best practices
  • Support MediSked Sales and Marketing organizations in defining key value propositions and maintaining consistent messaging across public-facing materials

Manage the Product Design Process:

The Product Manager is responsible for supporting and improving processes to design new products or features and to support in the development of those products or features in a way that minimizes waste and reduces concept to implementation time.

  • Manage the product development process from conception through design. Lead as product and feature owner, visionary of projects, responsible for gathering requirements, managing and prioritizing product backlog, software acceptance, release planning, and understanding the value of major projects
  • Maintain and execute product roadmap, optimizing resources and focusing on strategic and customer-critical product areas; communicate product roadmap to all MediSked organizations and disciplines, while ensuring product input channels reflect market trends and feedback from clients, partners and sales prospects
  • Define, refine, and communicate customer requirements into design specifications that are actionable by engineers and support QA test case development, ensuring timely delivery of product development inputs
  • Draft internal and client/partner-facing release notes; support the MediSked Premier and Support teams in the development of new platform documentation and new feature training
  • Serve as an advisor on both internal and client-facing projects to ensure consistency in product knowledge and best practices; capture and communicate lessons learned when appropriate
  • Implement and evolve new User-Centered Design and Accessibility-Centered Design principles and practices
  • Leverage existing client and market data to inform product roadmaps; implement new methods for collecting and utilizing data to ensure delivery of high-value features internally and across the user community

REQUIREMENTS

Product Management Experience:

  • 4-6 years product management experience, or an equal combination of relevant experience in related disciplines

Software Project Management and Business Analysis:

  • Strong skills as a hands-on technologist, with the ability to make informed decisions independently: solid operational management experience required, managing client-facing IT projects or enterprise software solutions
  • Experience leading and implementing solutions based on Microsoft technology to include: .NET(ASP, C#, VB), MVC, SQL Server, Web Services, Windows Server 2008R2, Active Directory, and IIS 7+
  • Must have a commitment to quality, client service, and teamwork, with proven experience interfacing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders to successfully deliver projects, integrations, and deliverables
  • Ability to evaluate end-user business needs, translate them into technical requirements, and manage the development and delivery of new platforms, tools, or features
  • Ability to document platform capabilities and user workflows for documentation and internal/client trainings
  • Ability and passion to research and learn new technologies and stay on the cutting edge of technology

Design and User Experience:

  • Experience implementing and leveraging user-centered design principles to design, validate, and deliver intuitive, high-quality software user experiences across web and mobile platforms
  • Experience implementing web accessibility standards is desired (e.g. Section 508, WCAG, etc.)

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences via strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships, collaborate, and influence internal teams and external clients and partners
  • Proven public speaking skills and ability to conduct remote meetings; experience presenting at conferences a plus
  • Proven ability to mentor and motivate teams

Software Expertise:

  • SDLC project management tools, e.g. Microsoft Project, Atlassian JIRA, and/or Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • Process mapping and entity relationship and solutions diagramming tools, e.g. Microsoft Visio
  • Prototyping/design tools, e.g. Invision, Balsamiq, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)

Related, Relevant Experience (Desired but Optional):

  • Business intelligence/reporting experience, including the implementation or management of BI platforms, requirements gathering and development of custom reports, and data transformation and analysis
  • Experience managing system integrations, and working with industry standard healthcare message specifications, including HL7, FHIR and EDI X12 (e.g. 834, 270, 271, 837, 835, 999), and file formats (CCD, CCDA, CCR, etc.)
  • Experience implementing or overseeing clinical software systems or electronic health record (EHR) systems, including the certification, management, or maintenance of HITECH, HITRUST, and Meaningful Use criteria.

Education and Work Environment:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; project management experience/certification desired
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high intensity environment
  • Ability to travel nationwide, up to 25%
