Product Manager

Job Summary

The Product Manager is the internal voice of the market, creating an environment of continuous interaction to understand and communicate needs and validate solutions and experiences. The Product Manager guides the business and work efforts within an agile development environment as well as interacts regularly with other stakeholders to deliver excellent customer experiences. This person will prioritize and sequence work efforts that ensure successful customer deployment and market success.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

  • Helps develop and communicate the product vision and roadmap.
  • Works with customers, potential customers and conducts market research to define and refine product direction and to manage through alpha, beta and other product releases.
  • Conducts customer and market research and tests assumptions and concepts early to gain critical insights and assure resources are applied to the most critical areas for the business by refining or deferring ideas as necessary.
  • Stays in tune with market/technology trends and remains knowledgeable on changes in the information technology and healthcare fields.
  • Promotes and preserves the Solera culture both within the team and in communications with Solera partners to support Solera’s core values.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as business development, marketing, information technology, and operations to develop and provide product definitions responsive to customer needs and market opportunities.
  • Works well with other product managers to gain insight from current product and with cross functional teams to develop a complete experience.
  • Manages and prioritizes the flow of work making sure there are enough ready features in the backlog with acceptance criteria.
  • Ensures that incoming enhancement requests and customer commitments are prioritized, designed, completed, and deployed properly.
  • Participates in defining Sprint Goals and Sprint Planning (often as Product Owner) as well as in system functionality demos as necessary to assure quality work.
  • Provides expertise and training to internal departments in support of the product.

Expected Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to start with a concept and define own work and solution advancement.
  • Experience in working with Agile / Scrum work environment as a Product Owner: writing user stories, and following the development process through user story acceptance.
  • Experience driving teams and management to decisions and obtaining difficult information and answers.
  • Experience working with multiple cross functional teams, simultaneously.
  • Proven ability and willingness to get in the weeds to solve problems when necessary for outcomes or teaching purposes.
  • Experience systematically analyzing problems, drawing relevant conclusions, and devising appropriate courses of action.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook.
  • Basic familiarity with programming languages and programming paradigms.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with Salesforce, web, and mobile apps preferred.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of additional relevant experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in software product and/or project management experience, including new product development.
