What Your Job Will Be Like

This posting is for the Design Engineering organization (2990). Applicants may be sourced and selected for any departments within the organization. Uses Electrical Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to mathematically represent the physical attributes of the product. Determines the physical characteristics of the product to be manufactured, including geometric form, interface features, manufacturing specifications, processes, and assembly instructions. Uses physical and computational simulation, analysis, and design trade studies as inherent activities of product development. Ensures design feasibility from a manufacturing and product maintenance perspective. Communicates the design options and recommended approach to product development teams, stakeholders, and manufacturing partners. Applies technical judgment based upon engineering principles in the design and development of innovative products for Sandia National Laboratories. Utilizes creativity to formulate design concepts that meet the form, fit, and functional requirements for new product concepts.
