Process Improvement Specialist – Peak Performance Team

The City of Denver’s Peak Academy team has an opening for a Process Improvement Specialist to support ongoing high profile, cross-departmental process improvement efforts as part of the Peak Performance initiative. Projects will focus on supporting the Peak Academy (process improvement training) and supporting frontline employees, supervisors and managers in implementing and sustaining best practices in process improvement and analytics tools. ABOUT OUR JOB

In this role you will directly impact the daily operations of the City and County of Denver by using process improvement methodologies; analyzing current processes, trends, and root causes; facilitating continuous improvement training and events; providing metrics and solutions to improve efficiency, and increase return on investment. This role will work alongside other analysts to provide ongoing support to specific agency partners. This analyst, as part of a centralized, strategically focused Process Improvement team, will:

Provide process improvement and analytics expertise to leaders and employees across various City and County Agencies.

Prepare training curriculum, and coach and mentor employees.

Support Agencies with strategic deployment design and planning.

Champion process improvement training and facilitation for leaders, black belts, green belts and other City and County employees.

Cultivate and foster a positive working relationship within teams, and with employees and other stakeholders to gain cooperation, support, and buy in to continuous improvement.

Plan, coordinate, schedule, organize, and facilitate various process improvement including, but not limited to training, workshops, rapid improvement events, process mapping.

Support facilitation of analysis and improvement events.

Support tracking innovations and improvements that result from Peak Academy trainees and improvement events.

Write reports that summarize findings, describe data collection techniques, and recommend implementation options.

Revise procedures, processes, and/or methods to increase effectiveness, test alternatives approaches, assist in the installation of approved improvements/modifications, provide instruction to operating personnel, and perform follow up to ensure defined outcomes are achieved. Job Duties:

70% Facilitate Process Improvements

Coach employees citywide on innovations, including incorporating performance metrics and providing implementation guidance

Partner with city agencies in a consulting engagement, guiding the organization to higher levels of continuous improvement and data-driven decision making

10% Special Projects

Collaborate with Peak staff

Continuously improve the Peak Academy’s service offerings

15% Training

Teach Peak Academy’s weeklong Denver Black Belt and four-hour Denver Green Belt classes on process improvement

Continuously improve Peak Academy’s curriculum and training offerings

5% Other duties as assigned

ABOUT YOU

Our ideal candidate has:
Master’s Degree or equivalent years of experience.

Proficient written and oral communication skills

Good presentation skills or willing to learn

Good analytical skills

Ability to work with many different personalities to build trust with City agencies and team members

Strong computing skills including: MS Office, MS Visio, MS Project, MS Power BI

Project Management – Demonstrated success in creating clear project scopes, project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for on-time, on-budget projects.

Additional Preferred Experience:
A minimum of one year professional level experience in process improvement, process mapping, project selection, or coaching project teams.

Experience creating compelling business cases for proposed process improvements

Experience working with performance data

Experience training others in process improvement, project management, behavior economics or human centered design

Lean certifications

Facilitation experience

Experience coaching employees and colleagues

Education Requirement: Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field.

Experience Requirement: Three years of progressively responsible professional experience in administrative, management, and operational analysis work which must have included analyzing management problems and recommending solutions and implementation strategies.

Education/Experience Equivalency: A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.
