Job Summary

Plans and designs methods to improve production processes. Reviews existing processes and develops solutions to increase productivity or reduce costs. Ensures compliance with approved production methods and quality standards; troubleshooting or proactively engaging with associates and production lines to find improvements. The Process Engineer Technician is heavily involved in the manufacturing process. Their primary duty is to ensure that products are produced at the rate needed to meet customer demand. Start pay is $21.00/hr and then yearly increases up to $26.75/hr.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate production equipment used to make products, and the materials used in the production of products
  • Sustain and continuously improve existing mechanical/engineering processes to produce high quality products
  • Identify and develop process improvements to effectively utilize equipment and materials to maximize production
  • Assist maintenance technicians in fixing malfunctioning equipment so that production deadlines are met
  • Establish detailed procedures for testing of the product at various stages of the manufacturing process
  • Perform engineering analysis to reduce downtime and outages
  • Confirm part quality after machine modifications and repair
  • Provide engineering solutions when errors in the manufacturing process arise
  • Develop and implement procedures to successfully assemble and manufacture the products
  • Develop operational strategies to achieve production and financial objectives
  • Ensure continuous improvement, as well as monitoring and troubleshooting the manufacturing process
  • Building or setting up equipment, conduct experiments
  • Programming Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines including vertical/horizontal mills, 2-4 axis lathes, and multi-axis mill-turn equipment
  • Selecting and deploying tooling fit for the process
  • Work on projects and activities related to Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) deployment, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Setup Reduction (SMED), and Standard Work
  • Investigate current methods and processes while researching new technology and advanced methods
  • Complete process layouts including machining methods, tooling selection
  • Develop operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities
  • Identify unsafe operations and practices and report to the Manager immediately
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Required Experience

  • High School or GED; plus Vocational School and 6-8 years of related experience and/or training in an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Advanced knowledge in blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer software required
  • Lean Manufacturing certification
  • Fluent in reading and writing in the English language
  • Ability to use advanced computer technology and complex electromechanical technology
  • Previous exposure to a multicultural office environment is a plus
  • Able to work in a fast-paced constantly changing environment
