Process Engineer I

POSITION SUMMARY: Coach and lead employees in activities related to continuous improvement efforts. Drive the development of mid and long term plans outlining projects to support the business in meeting its objectives with a strong focus on cost, part quality and cycle time. Work effectively with operations and accounting to capture process improvement savings.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and control production processes including tooling, equipment, methods, and / or process effectiveness
  • Relentlessly pursue the elimination of waste in both factory and office value streams
  • Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method of manufacture
  • Promote internal and external customer satisfaction and develop positive design engineering relationships
  • Assist Operations Leadership and production employees in resolving manufacturing process problems through a drive to root cause and permanent corrective action
  • Implement Poka-Yoke work methods, and develop workstation aids to assist in operator job performance.
  • Lead and audit 5S activities to ensure sustainment
  • Assist with action item completion for the area’s safety action item list, including corrective actions from near misses, accident reports & ergo assessments.
  • Develop and set time standards for job operations
  • Collaborate with Operations Leadership to maintain capacity charts and develop recovery plans
  • Lead Kaizen events that align with business objectives and improve overall plant efficiency
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Develop employee knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies, prepare capital request, cost justifications to support recommendations.

This position may require up to 10% domestic travel

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and up to 3 years applicable

Fluid power experience preferred

Six Sigma Green Belt preferred

Experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow preferred
