Process Engineer

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE
Reporting to the Director of Process Engineering, this position will pr ovide metallurgical/engineering input at daily process / product design meetings, Design metallurgical processes for new standard products, de fine process standards for yield and run/set-up times, i mprove process reliability/reproducibility, r esolve daily manufacturing shop floor technical issues, r oot cause analysis of process and product problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design manufacturing processes with defined process controls
  • Apply six sigma/lean manufacturing principles to product and process development and problem analysis.
  • Plan/implement Design of Experiments for process/product development
  • Utilize statistical analysis of process capabilities
  • Provide manufacturing floor technical support for Clad, Welded and Profiled Strip products.
  • Conduct root cause investigations including laboratory analysis of both internal non-conformances and external (customer) complaints.
  • Complete required documents for new order review, this includes Process Sheets, SAP Standards, SAP data entry, and purchasing requirements.
  • Develop accurate SAP Standards that include yield and production rates to track variances and assist in costing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment or in metallurgical testing

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customer, peers, shop floor personnel, and suppliers essential.
  • Working understanding of application of statistical methods for problem solving and for process and product improvement.
  • Proficient in use of computer software – database, spreadsheet and statistical packages.
