Process Engineer

Panolam Surface Systems is seeking a Process Engineer for its Auburn, Maine facility.

Responsibilities for our Process Engineer will include:

• Process optimization, process troubleshooting, development of new products & processes and technical support to manufacturing.
• Maintain work instructions for assigned area.
• Successfully manage multiple projects while maintaining proficiency on recurring tasks.
• May be required to directly supervise outside contractors or lead internal focus teams on safety, quality or productivity.
• Take an active role in internal implemented programs such as Franklin Covey’s 4DX program, Six Sigma activities and Safety trainers, etc.

This position requires the ability to foresee potential problems with projects and provide solutions for them; as well as the ability to communicate with internal as well as external customers inclusive of contractors, engineering firms, vendors, consultants, equipment manufacturers and technicians.

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. Experience in the pulp and paper industry is an asset. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential. A demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft Office Applications and the ability to use PeopleSoft is a plus. Attention to detail and ability to properly prioritize multiple, simultaneous tasks is required.
