Your tasks and responsibilities:

Job Summary

Provides engineering and automation support for Siegwerk Ink Packaging manufacturing facilities and all customers. Will meet internal and external customer needs to the best of the incumbent’s ability, in line with the philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority.

Job Responsibilities

-Provides technical plant floor support to maintain a 100% level of plant readiness. Works proactively to avoid plant down conditions.

-Is responsible for the design, fabrication, programming and installation of process equipment and control systems.

-Works with plant manager, maintenance, production, IS and engineering staff to help determine the plant equipment, controls and operational needs.

-Provides timely equipment drawing layouts, budgets and proposals.

-Acts as a project manager to develop best project time line and execution of the project for on time delivery.

-Provides immediate on call support 24/7 for programming and process equipment needs.

-Provides on call support to our external customer engineering needs.

-Helps to maintain an inventory of critical spare parts of electrical, controls, software, and plant equipment.

-Works to improve the reliability of Siegwerk process equipment and control systems.

-Implements the philosophy of continuous improvement based upon the theories of Deming and Goldratt. Learn and use tools such as SPC, where appropriate.

-Must understand the ink manufacturing process as well as all safety related operational concerns.

-Must work on multiple projects at the same time.

-Works with the engineering manager to understand and execute company business goals or priorities.

-Will be directed by the Senior Process Engineer who manages the entire plant control infrastructure. Must work to improve and support that system infrastructure on a daily basis.

-Will provide on going support and changes to programming systems per plant and production manager requests.

-Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer/Control Engineering is desired. Consideration will be made for a Mechanical / Electrical Technician or extensive training and experience in PLC process controls.

-Successful incumbents must be a strong motivated self –starter and take a “hands on approach.”

-Excellent interpersonal and communication – both verbal and written skills required.

-Ability to take initiative and/or work independently required.

-Ability to get along with co-workers and customer staff is a must.

-Be able to produce readable Auto Cad drawings and communicate the instructions with in those drawings to our inside Technician, outside fabrication shops, Electricians and maintenance departments.

-Ability to design and build all necessary mechanical and electrical hardware for plant equipment.

-Have a good understanding of mechanical and electrical components such as valves, pumps, relays, controller, PLC, motors, starters, pilot valves, piping, hose and fittings. Be able to understand the importance of each and every component within a processing system. Be able to timely order, stock, inventory and release any component down to the nut and bolt level to fabrication.

-Direct and extensive experience with Allen-Bradley PLC’s and supporting software is required.

-Become familiar with the principles of ISA’s S88 flexible batch manufacturing standards.

-Experience and capability with ERP integration, Visual Basic, OPC, SQL Server, networked PLC control, Modbus, RS232, RS485, Remote I/O and Device Net is necessary for successful job performance.

-A rigorous approach to device integration, programming and documentation is required.

-Requires at least 15% electrical design in a flammable vapor environment. (NFPA 30)

Special Equipment/Working Condition Requirements

-Travel as required. Travel may be required for seminars, customer and plant support.

-Must be expected to carry a cell phone during off-hours to support plant operations.

Internal/External Contacts

Extensive contacts both inside and outside the company, including Production, Maintenance, Corporate Offices, and outside contractors and vendors.

Qualifications:
