Private Equity Analytics Team – Analyst

This position is with the Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners Private Equity Team (“AIP PE”). The AIP PE team is focused on providing world-class private markets solutions to our investors and has $10.0 billion in assets under management and advisory as of December 2016. AIP PE is part of Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners (“AIP”), a boutique investment business within Morgan Stanley Investment Management. AIP is Morgan Stanley’s fund of funds group with teams specializing in private equity, hedge fund, and real estate investing, as well as a Portfolio Solutions Group that manages multi-asset class alternative investment portfolios. By housing these investment disciplines under one roof, AIP is uniquely positioned to offer a broad array of portfolio solutions and custom accounts that are tailored to clients’ evolving investment objectives.

Position Description

The Analyst will be responsible for acquiring in-depth knowledge of AIP PE portfolios and systems in order to assist the investment, marketing, and client service teams with performance reporting and other related portfolio analysis. This position will be located in the West Conshohocken, PA office.

Team Responsibilities

 Cash management and coordination of investor capital calls and distributions

 Create models to analyze and forecast fund performance, cash flows, and fees

 Measure composite and disaggregated performance and contrast with public and private benchmarks

 Create custom track records and refresh as needed

 Assist marketing and client service teams with quantitative aspects of marketing materials and investor requests

 Coordinate AIP PE’s iLevel data collection initiative and assist in system design, testing, and implementation

 Assist in the preparation of both written and data components of RFPs

 Ensure data integrity and consistency throughout internal systems

 Conduct ad hoc analysis using internal and external databases

Qualifications


Skills Required

 Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

 Background in financial analysis and/or fund accounting. Private Equity or Hedge Fund experience a plus.

 Experience with spreadsheet modeling and Investran preferred.

 Excellent quantitative, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with internal and external clients.

 Highly detail oriented with a strong ability to manage and execute simultaneous projects and tasks without reminders.

 Exceptionally self-motivated, with a high level of initiative and the resourcefulness to efficiently and effectively problem solve.

 Strong knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
