ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
  • To implement primary health care and occupational medicine programmes according to business requirements and known medical protocols
  • The incumbent work independently, applying given medical protocols in providing health care directly to employees / patients
  • He/she is responsible to achieve quality assured results by applying treatment guidelines with room for applied interpretation (dealing with various clinical probabilities)
  • The incumbent must ensure that each patient – nurse encounter contribute to a medical data pool. It would be the role of the nurse practitioner to gather and sort data, which would provide insight into potential areas where health risk mitigation requires improvement
  • The incumbent must give feedback in order to direct health services in continually improving the best methods of work, by applying available resources as efficiently and appropriately as required
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
  • Deliver on health programme
    • Planning and coordination of medical surveillance program
    • Interpretation and reporting of medical surveillance findings
    • Contribute to and maintain the wellness programme
    • Capturing and maintaining accurate Health data in the Health data management system
  • Quality results
    • Deliver in time and cost effective health programme
    • Adhere to quality management systems
  • Technical expertise and advice
    • Accept and implement advice in order to improve the health programme
    • Monitoring, referring and following up on patients
    • Treatment and management of occupational injuries
    • Coordination of medical surveillance scheduling
    • Case management of COID claims
    • Participate in audits
    • Understand and maintain departmental protocols and works instructions
    • Compiling progress reports
    • Standby duties
  • Work, project plans and organisation
    • Ensure that work and health programmes meet business requirements, demands and objectives
    • Execute medical surveillance scheduling program for all Sasol BU’s in region
    • Translate medical surveillance scheduling program and service delivery specifications into team and individual priorities
    • Annually evaluate scheduling system and user capabilities to meet effective service delivery
    • Ensure and apply effective document control
  • Statutory compliance and professional practices
    • Comply with professional and statutory requirements
  • Ensure full understanding and compliance to One Sasol SHE Excellence approach
    JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver’s license
Qualifications and Experience:
  • B. Degree in Nursing AND Registered with SANC (South African Nursing Council):
  • 4 years total work experience
    OR
  • Diploma in Nursing AND Registered with SANC (South African Nursing Council)
  • 6 years total work experience
    Further qualifications:
  • Occupational Health Nursing Qualification
  • Trauma and Emergency Health Qualification
  • Primary Health Care Qualification
