Job Description:

The RBMR Copper Circuit Debottlenecking involves the installation of a second generation POX autoclave into the existing refining circuit in a Polishing Copper Leach duty. The autoclave employs an advanced control strategy to further extract base metals selectively. The project is currently in the Front-End Engineering Stage.

The Principle Process Engineer role will be to manage all process related aspects of the final design, construction and commissioning of the new autoclave system at RBMR.

Typical Tasks include:

  • Management of all process related aspects of the project including the process-mechanical-instrumentation interfaces (of which there are many, non-obvious, non-standard and non-trivial)
  • Ensuring quality of the EPCM deliverables
  • Ensuring the functional specifications are in accordance with the Process Design Criteria and Intent and faithful to HAZOP
  • Ensuring the system design (model, IFC drawings, piping isometrics, etc.) correctly capture all process requirements
  • Supporting Operational Readiness
  • Providing input into laboratory test work in support of the project
  • Ensuring the construction teams execute the design faithfully to all process-mechanical specifications
  • Qualifications:


    Formal qualifications:

  • An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline (Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent)
  • Desirable: A postgraduate qualification (Masters / Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity

  • Role-specific knowledge:

  • Second generation autoclave (POX/HPAL) or similar pressure equipment experience
  • Experience and knowledge of second generation autoclave safety systems and measures
  • Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) a benefit
