Principal Infrastructure Engineer – Windows, SCCM

Staples’ Retail Technology Services is hiring a Principal Infrastructure Engineer – Windows, SCCM. The person in this role will join a team of consultants, engineers, and analysts tasked with designing, implementing and administering technology based solutions in support of the North American Retail business unit.

The person successful in this role will have a demonstrated background in automating IT solutions for the purpose of zero touch implementations (i.e. scripting, packaging, etc.) , experience with a client management tool, understand management of systems in distributed environments, familiarity with data security standards, be a jack of all trades, have an analytical mind to be able to solve complex issues and enjoys evaluating new technologies. Primary Responsibilities:

• Designs, engineers and implements solutions to support operational or customer facing systems (back office desktops, in-store kiosks, mobile devices).
• Assists in the evaluation of new hardware, operating systems, and infrastructure components.
• Packages applications for distribution to desktops and servers via client mgmt. tools.
• Provides 3rd level technical support for store retail infrastructure components including back office hardware, software, network (wired & wireless), mobile devices and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Provides technical guidance to Staples’ retail business and IT organizations as required.
• Recommend areas where existing policies and procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Basic:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Computer Science, MIS or another technical field) or 10 years of equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ overall experience in technical roles
• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Windows desktops, Servers and Point-of-Sale systems in distributed environments. (Windows 7 & Server 2012)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with systems management tools such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or IBM BigFix
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the following: PowerShell, Windows Command Script, Visual Basic Script Experience working with Installer technologies; Flexera AdminStudio, Wise Package Studio, InstallShield, Windows Installer
• Strong troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis
• Self-motivated independent worker, able to lead initiatives with minimal direction from beginning to end

Preferred:

• Experience with Enterprise Mobility is a strong plus; Mobile Device Management tools such as AirWatch, and mobile operating systems: iOS and/or Android Experience with C#, .NET, Visual Basic or any other object-oriented programming language
• Working knowledge of PCI and PII requirements
• Experience with enterprise application whitelisting tools; Bit9
• Experience working with cross functional business and IT groups
