Plant Engineer

Provide technical expertise as requested by power plant management to assist in the resolution of plant operational and maintenance issues.

  • Support the development of business cases and expected costs for Capital and O&M improvements and repairs as requested.
  • Serve as the site NERC Compliance Champion. Insure that all NERC procedures are followed at the site including maintaining the required documentation, scheduling and overseeing the required testing of NERC devices, maintaining equipment lists, and training operations personnel on NERC standards.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and managing improvement projects to enhance the process and overall plant operability, maintainability and reliability.
  • Responsible for overseeing and managing the plant modification process for the site. Insure all appropriate documentation and approvals are completed according to the PMP procedure.
  • Responsible for performing Root Cause Analysis for operational events and reoccurring maintenance issues.
  • Utilize tools to analyze and trend operations and maintenance performance based on unit and plant data.
  • Work with key stakeholders to actively improve KPI’s and operational dashboards/reports.
  • Develop plant assessment methods in conjunction with the plant staff.
  • Perform plant assessments to identify areas in need of improvement and assist plant staff in developing action plans to gain resolution. (e.g. housekeeping, maintenance management, procedure management, shift turnover, operator rounds, log keeping, communications, equipment labeling, lube oil, jumper & lifted leads/forced points, etc.)
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum education required of the position

    B.S. Degree in Engineering.

    Preferred: Electrical Engineering

    Minimum experience required of the position

    Engineer II: 2-4 years of applicable and progressive experience.

    Engineer III: 4-6 years of applicable and progressive experience.

    Engineer Sr: 6 years of applicable and progressive experience.

    Desired: Candidate needs to have at least 5 years direct experience in a power generation facility in an engineering capacity. Has been responsible in helping plants troubleshoot problems, manage projects, technical oversight, ensure quality assurance/quality control, guide plant modification processes, and drawing updates.

    Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

    Demonstrates good engineering judgment. Strong engineering analysis and problem solving skills as required by the specific job. Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area.
