PHP Programmer

The PHP Programmer is CDH’s primary developer for Humanities-related instructional projects and systems, as well as our lead Moodle developer and technical liaison to the campus LMS and related projects. In addition to programming for new and existing instructional systems, the PHP Programmer tests and recommends applications and systems improvements to CDH management and project partners. Additional responsibilities include serving as project team lead or technical partner on faculty-driven digital projects, rapid prototyping, estimating development projects, and piloting new systems. Technical presentations and training, and serving as a technical resource to faculty, students and the IT community add to the varied opportunities this position provides.

Required/Preferred

Demonstrated PHP programming skills.

Required

Moodle 2.x programming experience.

Preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of JSON, XML, SOAP, UDDI and WSDL sufficient for the creation of web services.

Preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of SQL.

Required

Experience integrating applications with datasets in MySQL and open-source content repositories (Dspace, Fedora Commons, Alfresco).

Preferred

Demonstrated familiarity with application development best practices, such as code versioning and code review.

Required

Experience doing group development, and coding to a shared code-base. Experience with code version control systems, like Git.

Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Demonstrated willingness to adopt new technologies and programming languages when appropriate and necessary to keep abreast of developments in the instructional technology arena.

Detailed knowledge of web browsers on multiple operating systems to debug and evaluate the functionality and design of web sites.

Demonstrated knowledge of security issues with respect to Unix/Linux OS and Web servers.

Demonstrated ability to compose and edit letters, memoranda, reports and other material in a clear and logical manner.
