PHP-JavaScript Developer

National Cristina Foundation (NCF) is looking for a PHP developer skilled in JS and application interface design. This individual would work directly with the Director of IT & Communications to build NCF’s service platform.

NCF is a small nonprofit doing big things. We’ve been in operation for over 30 years. These groups are doing amazing things in their local communities and NCF brings them together with the goal of helping them accomplish even more. This might be getting more computer donations, or promoting themselves better on social media, or just communicating and sharing amazing ideas with like-minded groups.

A survey of our members recently gave us a better idea of the kinds of services we’d like to provide and would help them most. Communication tools like Google Groups, Hangouts, and free phone conferencing were high on the list. We already provide donation management services and are looking to expand into other areas.

Experience

• 5yrs PHP development

• Applicants should be able to provide references and examples that show their experience.

Location

• Work from home with equipment supplied by NCF
• West coast preferred, especially around Washington/Oregon but mostly PST
• Other residence locations considered on case by case basis

Technical Skills Required (we need this)

• Linux/Unix: Basic experience working in a linux/unix server environment.
• PHP: 5.2 → 7.x development and conversion of older code projects.
• JavaScript: Basic JS development experience and proficiency using jQuery and/or PrototypeJS.
• MySQL: Basic database management with phpMyAdmin and writing optimized queries using MySQLi/PDO.
• File Tracking/Repositories: Basic understanding of svn repositories (checkout, commit, branches, etc).

Technical Skills and/or Interests Preferred (we’d love this)

• Linux/Unix: Experience as a sysadmin a plus.
• PHP: OOP experience preferred or at least a desire to learn required.
• JavaScript: Inline widget development, framework experience (Angular, React, jQuery, etc) preferred or at least a desire to learn required.
• WordPress CMS: Experience with multi-site in shared server, load balanced environments preferred. Experience creating walled, member-only content areas with oAuth2 SSO access control a plus.
• Google APIs: Experience with Google oAuth2 and/or Groups API desired.
• MySQL: Experience in database administration, cross-country master-slave, round-robin replication a plus.
• Telephony: Experience with Asterisk (1.8 – 12,13,14…) configuration/administration a plus (both FreePBX-based and basic CLI).
• File Tracking/Repositories: Experience with decentralized repositories like git a plus. Experience with repositories in load balanced, multi-server, virtual environments a big plus.
