PHP Developer

Are you a developer with an appreciation for typography? Here at Monotype, type, technology, and expertise are in our DNA. Our Digital Commerce team is seeking a highly talented PHP Developer. Here you’ll have the opportunity to work on one of the leading font retail sites and help shape the future of our Digital Commerce platform. You will write code and unit tests, fix bugs, participate in planning and requirements meetings, work collaboratively and contribute to our friendly vibe.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Troubleshoot and debug existing code.
• Work closely with project team to develop new features and maintain existing web application functionality.
• Complete development tasks utilizing PHP, MVC, MySQL and other open source Internet-scale technologies running in AWS.
• Work in an agile environment that requires strong problem solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communications.
• Work with designers and developers in an iterative way to get the technical business needs met while ensuring that the user experience is maintained as the top priority.
• Produce high-performant, efficient, scalable features.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Passionate about development and love to write code.
• BS in Computer Science, or a similar discipline.
• 2+ years of PHP development experience.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented development methodologies.
• Background and expertise in LAMP based technologies and frameworks.
• Team player with ability to check ego at the door.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience working in an agile development framework.
• Understanding of database design concepts, MySQL, Postgres, etc.
• Demonstrated experience with version control systems (git).
• Experience working with web services (XML, JSON, REST).
