Printed Circuit Board Layout Designer

Job Description

As a Printed Circuit Board Layout Designer for Micron Technology, Inc., you will use Mentor Graphics Xpedition design tools to provide physical layout and documentation of printed circuit boards covering a wide range of technology and design complexity: Layer counts from 2-44+ layers, single and dual stripline controlled impedance configurations, differential signals, HDI designs, power supply circuits, test measurement circuits, test interface circuits, matched timing constraints, with a strong focus on design for fabrication and design for assembly.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Provide Layout of Printed Circuit Boards and Documentation

  • Create and/or edit PCB schematics
  • Produce PCB Layouts utilizing Mentor Graphics design and verification tools
  • Create associated documentation
  • Follow design-for-manufacturing guidelines
  • Follow Best Practice design and documentation guidelines
  • Participate in design review meetings
  • Produce quality, error-free designs
  • Work effectively as part of a design team
  • Stay up-to-date with state-of-the-art PCB layout techniques and manufacturing processes

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in manual and interactive component placement & routing
  • Thorough knowledge of layout techniques related to signal integrity.
  • Advanced knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes.
  • Familiar with electronic schematic graphic symbols and reference designation standards
  • Knowledgeable in PCB layout guidelines and standards
  • Ability to read and interpret component datasheets, schematics, and design-related documents to extract pertinent information to follow specified layout guidelines.
  • Possess a high level of accuracy and precision, with great attention to detail
  • Self-motivated team player, with flexibility to adapt to varying workloads and task requirements
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Effectively use Microsoft Windows and Office tools

Education

Associates Degree, Technical School diploma or equivalent experience

  • PCB Design or related field of study

IPC Designer certification (CID/CID+) preferred

Experience

7 years experience

  • performing layout of printed circuit boards
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition flow PCB/CAD tools preferred
