Payroll/LOA Specialist

Our Opportunity:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing leaves of absence. This would include ensuring completeness of information and adherence to company policy, as well as working closely with third party vendor who administers leaves of absence. This person will need to be able to analyze and resolve leave issues of various complexities, and work closely with employees at all levels of the organization. This person should respond timely and professionally to inquiries from manager and their employees, and should be able to prioritize daily work flow to meet scheduled deadlines and service level agreements .

What you’ll do:

  • Process daily leave of absence (LOA) integration file, and analyze and resolve any resultant errors. Work closely with Vendor to resolve any discrepancies or missing information from the daily files.
  • Manually create/update employee level LOA worksheet based on leave type. Analyze, confirm, correct leave accruals as necessary. Determine and process “true-up” amount as payroll entry to bring period pay to 100%
  • Create, process and validate off cycle checks as required for waiting period or return from leave
  • Run and analyze Open Window payroll reports; identify and make corrections; re-run and file reports for compliance
  • Receive and resolve help request cases related to LOA earnings and deductions. Reply/confirm resolution with employee and close case
  • Identify, reconcile and resolve overpayments s with employee or HRBP; update repayment in WD and process as needed
  • Process request or identified error (e.g., help request ticket); evaluate and determine corrective action (stop, reverse or recall payments); complete relevant form indicating action to be taken; input data to submit reversal or stop on check and reverse payment in WD/YTD Earnings, as appropriate.
  • Maintain, analyze and supply monthly metric reports; run data identified for metrics tracking; provide data by 1st week of the month
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

What you have:

  • 3-4 years’ experience in full cycle, multi-state payroll processing and data querying
  • Familiarity with Workday payroll preferred
  • Knowledge and application of State and Federal payroll laws and regulations
  • Experience with Leave of Absence processing via third party vendor and through Payroll
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or closely related field preferred
  • Fundamental Payroll Certification a plus
  • Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills
  • Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills applied in a constantly changing fast paced environment
  • Ability to effectively navigate confidential and sensitive conversations with employees
  • Proficient in applications including Excel (e.g., V-lookups, pivot tables, and mathematical formulas), MS Word; Access is a plus
