Part-Time Patient Care Representative

General Summary: Seeking a motivated individual to maintain the front office and represent our practice with professionalism. This employee must be driven, poised, articulate, and possess the strongest of communication skills. The professional will be able to multi-task effortlessly, prioritize efficiently, handle patient requests, place outbound calls to patients, and handle all administrative tasks with a smile. The position involves patient check-in, check-out, accurately receiving payments, answering telephones, patient work-ups, and taking vitals.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the practice.
  • Adheres to the HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
  • Greets patients immediately upon their arrival and provides excellent customer service.
  • Check patients in verifying demographics and insurance.
  • Directs patients to proper exam/treatment room; prepares patients for examinations and other procedures, completes H&Ps and takes vitals.
  • Utilizes electronic health record for patient work-ups and tasks assigned.
  • Evaluates daily schedules to accommodate patient flow and minimize missed appointments.
  • Handles patient calls and effectively manages schedule
  • Completes referrals and authorizations as needed.
  • Checks patients out and makes appointments as indicated.
  • Collects co-pays and patient payments.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Current certification as a nursing assistant or medical assistant.
  • Must have a minimum of two years of experience in a medical office environment.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology.
  • Experience with Greenway or EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of clinical equipment, supplies, and instruments.
  • Understanding of documentation required for physician office visits.

  • Possess a high level of organizational skills.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical and administrative staff.
  • Must be able to work well independently and be detailed-oriented, but also interact well with a team.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
  • Proficient in relevant computer hardware and software, as well as EMR systems, and other standard medical office equipment.

Mental/Physical Requirements : Involves sitting for long periods of time and working in a fast-paced office environment.
