Part Time Bookkeeper/Junior Accountant (1 day/week)

We are an exciting San Diego-based cancer immunotherapy startup in in stealth mode with two years of committed funding. You will help to ensure that high-quality financial information is created and used to drive good decisions and operations in this highly entrepreneurial, fast-moving company. This position is primarily responsible for Data Entry, Bank and Credit Card reconciliation, Accounts Payable, and the month end close cycle. The ideal candidate for this role aspires to grow with the company and is willing to provide support in all areas of the business.

• Perform monthly close activities
• Enter all purchases into the system; ensure proper coding of expenses based on collected purchase receipts
• Bank and credit card reconciliation
• Track Accounts Payable
• Record standard recurring journal entries
• Maintain the fixed asset module including adding/disposing of assets, performing monthly depreciation, tagging new assets upon acquisition, and updating monthly reports

About you:

• BS degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in an accounting role is required, biotech experience is preferred
• Strong computer knowledge in word processing and excel spreadsheets required; QuickBooks experience a plus
• Strong financial analysis and accounting skills, thorough knowledge of accounting principles is necessary
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and react quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Individual must be organized, detail-oriented, proactive and energetic
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• “Can-do” attitude, good work ethic, and passion about science and serving patients

We are seeking a dynamic part-time bookkeeper/junior accountant for 1 day/week (you can pick which day of the week; we have a slight preference for Tuesdays).
