Part Time Bookkeeper

The New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF), a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering stem cell research, seeks a Part Time Bookkeeper to provide support to the NYSCF Finance & Operations department.

The Bookkeeper performs key accounting work and otherwise assists in the tracking, monitoring and reporting of financial activity in the organization. Working directly with the Finance & Operations team, the Bookkeeper maintains accurate, efficient and effective accounting and budget systems.

This is a part-time, hourly position with a minimum of 12 hours per week, maximum 20 hours per week. The hours are flexible within a standard work week of Monday thru Friday between the hours of 9:30 am-5:30 pm. The Part Time Bookkeeper can select a schedule of either 2-3 full days per week or 3-5 part/half days per week.


Job Duties

  • Assistance with Accounts Payable operations including:
    • Entering bills and purchase orders into QuickBooks
    • Stamping & filing of paid bills & purchase orders
    • Filing and storage preparation
  • Data entry (i.e. credit card receipts) into QuickBooks & preparation of analysis reports.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, which involves investigating/resolving reconciling items in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Preparation of American Express reconciliation reports for 3 managers.
  • Preparation & coding of American Express reports in preparation for uploading into QuickBooks.
  • Various tasks related to financial statement preparation, annual audits, tax return preparation.
  • Makes recommendations to improve accounting systems and processes.
  • Maintains financial files and records, ensuring that records are filed in a timely fashion.
  • Other tasks as directed

  • Discretion with sensitive information you may be working with.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment.
  • High degree of facility using Mac & PC platform and current computer software; Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks are required.
  • The ideal candidate will be available for a minimum of a 1-year commitment to the position.
  • 1+ years previous bookkeeping experience,
  • Eligible to work in the United States required.
