Parks and Recreation Site Supervisor

Under the direction of the assigned supervisor will be responsible for the recreation activities at the assigned sites. Will assist in the maintenance and preparation of daily reports.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Develop, schedule and implement a comprehensive recreational program which meets the needs and interests of all program participants.

Supervise recreational activities of the site.

Record data relating to operations for budget and cost effectiveness and reports such data on a weekly basis to the Program Coordinator.

Responsible for the accounting procedures at the assigned site.

Research and make recommendations concerning the facilities and grounds, emphasizing the community use of the facilities assigned.

Transport program participants in multi-passenger vehicle as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Any combination of education and/or experience totaling three (3) program sessions in a recreational/educational setting.

Must have knowledge of goals, practices and techniques of organized recreation as a learning experience for children and young adults.

Must have knowledge of the rules and regulations of a variety of recreational sports and games.

Must have the ability to train and supervise others.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

Must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, staff, participants and the general public.

Screening and Compliance

The offer of this Bernalillo County position requires compliance with the following:

Employee must successfully complete the post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation.

Employee must comply with the safety guidelines of the County.

Must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license by employment date and retain a valid NM driver’s license while employed in this position.

Working Conditions

All essential duties are performed indoors and outdoors.

Indoors duties are performed in a temperature-controlled environment on an even surface, which may be carpeted or tile.

Outdoor duties may expose worker to natural weather conditions. Outdoor duties are performed on surfaces that include concrete, asphalt, ramps, natural ground, gravel, and stairs which may be wet or dry.

Work is done primarily alone and can be done with a select team at times.

County vehicle is used on an as needed basis.

Shift work is required with possible weekend work.

Equipment, Tools and Materials

Equipment typically used in the performance of office duties include telephone, computer terminal, computer printer, computer keyboard, typewriter, photocopy machine, fax machine and calculator.

Materials and products handled in the course of performing essential duties include files, forms, reports, various other paperwork, and a wide variety of basic office supplies.

A variety of sports and recreation equipment may be used in performance of essential duties.
