Job Description:

In this role we are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer capable of architecting and engineering components of Database-as-a-Serivce (DBaaS) platform to automate all aspects of Oracle database lifecycle management from provisioning to decommissioning. This role will involve minimal travel and work in Fortune 100 environments.

Responsibilities:

• Design automated components of DBaaS for Oracle on Exadata and AWS platforms.
• Develop scripts to automate Oracle infrastructure lifecycle management to eliminate manual actions in a large enterprise environment across thousands of database instances (provisioning, decommissioning, HA/DR administration, recoverability/backup management, storage management, process management, and telemetry configuration).
• Develop tools for application DBA self-service to eliminate their need to log into the database host machine (e.g. session kill, tablespace management, auto-scaling).
• Work as part of an Agile team and able to drive sprint planning and scrum estimates.
• Automate QA testing and release management.

Qualifications:

• Strong fundamentals in software engineering and computer science.
• Deep familiarity with the components of cloud-based services, including caching, database architecture, API design, queuing services, etc.
• Scripting skills: Bash, AWK/SED, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.
• Experience designing, integrating, and managing complex infrastructure solutions and providing best practices guidance on the architectural design across multiple applications, projects, or the enterprise.
• Experience with application configuration tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, CFEngine, etc.
• Working understanding/experience with IT as a Service, Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Systems Management, IT Operations tools and best practices.
• Experience with automation and workflow automation tools.
• Experience automating Oracle infrastructure including configuration of RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Golden Gate, OEM 12c / 13c, Oracle Unified Directory, etc.
• Practical knowledge of Exadata and ZFS is preferred.
• Practical AWS knowledge is a strong plus.
• Practical Oracle Cloud knowledge is a strong plus.
• An effective collaborative team player with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor degree in computer science, engineering or related field.
