Operations Manager

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science seeks a highly motivated individual to join its dynamic research team as an Operations Manager for the Center for Applied Biomechanics (www.centerforappliedbiomechanics.org).

The Center for Applied Biomechanics (CAB) is a multi-disciplinary research center with over 50 researchers, staff and students. Research activities are conducted at several locations, both on and off grounds with the main lab facility located in the UVa Research Park. The Operations Manager oversees the operation of the CAB’s physical facilities as well as the administrative, human resources, financial, and technical operations. The position is responsible to ensure that all research projects are completed safely and efficiently, meeting all deadlines. The Operations Manager will develop and implement operational plans that effectively and efficiently utilize current laboratory resources, project future needs, and help to develop and implement improvement plans all in support of the CAB’s research mission.

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering, science, or equivalent degree with a minimum of seven years of demonstrated management experience. The qualified candidate will act as liaison between the center and university support services. He/she must have superior written and communication skills. Experience in a lab setting with managing multiple teams, project budget development and project management is preferred.
