Operations Manager

Requirements

Our mission is to build a new model for book publishing that puts authors first. We’re looking for an ambitious Operations Manager to help us create the tools, technology, and information that authors and publishers need to reach more readers.

Responsible for establishing the infrastructure for growth, scale, and strategic adaptability at Pronoun, the Operations Manager:

  • Manages and maintains smooth efficiency of business operations by designing systems and processes that drive business, product, and technology results
  • Leads cross-departmental initiatives to integrate Pronoun’s business practices, workflows, and systems into larger Macmillan, ensuring compliance and consolidating resources by coordinating with Legal, Accounting, and IT
  • Spearheads new product offerings from start to finish by performing market research; defining requirements and setting goals; and coordinating timelines, tasks, and scope for multiple teams
  • Finds and pursues cost reduction opportunities by challenging current supply chain structures, cost models, and business processes
  • Sources channel partners and third-party contractors, negotiating business and financial terms of contracts and maintaining strong working relationships
  • Presents proposals, updates, and results in regular and ad-hoc meetings
  • Maintains clear documentation of company procedures

You’ll report to the President of Pronoun.

  • A knack for learning new tools and processes quickly. You’ll hit the ground running.
  • The ability to adapt quickly based on current needs of the business. You’re joining an agile team working on several concurrent projects.

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3-5 years in a Operations or comparable role
  • Has worked with engineering, creative, and business teams
  • Must have experience building relationships and negotiating with internal teams and external partners
  • Must have experience producing and presenting project plans, ideally working with a project management tool (Asana, JIRA, Basecamp, etc)
  • Startup experience a plus
