Job Description Summary:
The Operations and Program Coordinator will be responsible for providing operational and program support to the Center for Career Engagement’s (CCE) Customized Connections Model of Professional Development that is being implemented in conjunction with The Furman Advantage. The primary objective of this model is improved “academic-career integration” across campus whereby the career development programs of the CCE are seamlessly integrated with academic and administrative departments.

The Operations and Program Coordinator will serve as the first point of contact for all visitors to the Center for Career Engagement and provide operational support for programs, services, and events sponsored by the Center for Career Engagement. The coordinator will hire, train, and supervise up to four student workers who greet visitors, answer the phones, and perform clerical, marketing and data entry duties. The Operations and Program Coordinator will coordinate department assessment initiatives including the First Destinations survey and assist with the production of the Annual Report. In collaboration with the Director and Assistant Directors, they will write, publish, and distribute newsletters and reports to constituent groups. In addition they will provide “first-line” career guidance and deliver presentations to students on basic career-related topics including resumes, cover letters, and job search strategies.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree.Experience in a higher education environment, providing direct service to students.Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.High level writing ability.Newsletter publication skills.Event planning skills.Effective presentation skills.Project management and organization skills.Analytical skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualificiations:
Formal experience in a university Career Center.Knowledge of job search strategies and resume/cover letter critique protocols.Website maintenance. Familiarity with web editing software would be helpful.Experience with administering assessments and surveys utilizing tools such as Wufoo, and Qualtrics.Experience with Career Services Management software programs such as Symplicity, CSO, or Handshake.

Special Instructions to Applicants: The budgeted salary range for this position will be $34,600 – $40,000.
