Office & Admin Specialist

This position will provide assistance to the Director of Equity and Inclusion and the Division of Equity and Inclusion as assigned. This position must have knowledge and understanding of Equity and Inclusion work and must be able to function in a fast paced evironment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of:

  • English sufficient to: speak, read, understand, and respond to a variety of written and spoken communications; apply accurate spelling and grammar in written communications; and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Skills in customer service sufficient to:

  • Perform the duties of the equity and inclusion specialist with courtesy, respect, and interest in positive problem solving manner. Answer the phone, refer callers, and greet visitors with courtesy and respect. Provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through e-mail and other written correspondence.

Knowledge of:

  • Current data entry procedures, including filing and storage; typing/keyboarding sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy; and word processing sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save equity documents, including spreadsheets.

Skill in:

  • Using spreadsheet software applications, such as Microsoft Office, to enter, compile, store, and retrieve data in a variety of reports.
  • Database management to: (1) enter and retrieve data for equity and inclusion reports; (2) sort or classify information into existing databases according to established equity guidelines; and (3) collect, compile, maintain, and present equity and inclusion data from multiple databases (ISRS).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to inform and guide the work assignments of student workers enough to plan, coordinate and direct assigned duties within Equity and Inclusion
  • Demonstrates a wide variety of knowledge of issues impacting people in marginalized groups
  • Experience in Higher Education
  • Experience working with people from marginalized groups
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Ability to respond appropriately to and incorporate feedback about using equitable and culturally relevant practices at work
  • Experience with ISRS and Microsoft Applications
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to follow-up on tasks and projects


Additional Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCU’s vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
