NPC Web Developer

Summary:

The College Web Developer is an integral member of the External Relations team and participates in development and execution of department goals. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Web Developer will provide oversight of the np.edu website, manage the implementation of web content, provide best SEO practices, monitor site analytics and collaboratively develop the College’s web strategy. The Web Developer will work with academic and administrative offices to provide editorial content services, CMS development, documentation and training, implementation and outstanding customer service, while identifying opportunities for the College to communicate its brand messages.

The role is responsible for designing, coding and modifying websites, from layout to function and according to departmental needs. Excellent design sensibilities required. Education:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Continually creates new and rich content for website in accordance with college’s marketing and communications department goals and requirements
  • Monitors all website analytics to report on performance and effectiveness of all website content
  • Serves as administrator of Content Management System (OmniUpdate’s OUCampus)
  • Provides technical support to campus and departmental content editors
  • Collaborates with a broad range of contributors to the website
  • Develops standards for content and graphics; establishes procedures for inputting and editing
  • Maintains and administers calendar site (Active Calendar)
  • Maintains and administers employee directory
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of digital design methodologies and information architecture best practices across multiple platforms, including email and mobile, and higher education web best practices, including use of diagnostic services to monitor and improve SEO, performance and compliance with WCAG 2.0 accessibility guidelines.
  • Strong understanding of GUI Design, cross-browser compatibility, and security principles
  • Expertise and hands on experience with web applications and programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, API’s, and ASP.Net
  • Experience developing responsive websites and/or web applications or interfaces
  • Experience or proven aptitude implementing or developing for contemporary content management systems
  • Experience managing a consistent taxonomy and metadata, a history of producing and optimizing content for digital vehicles (e-newsletters, websites and social media)
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and/or other analysis activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with user communities of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of technical proficiency
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong analytical and creative thinking abilities
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, students, internal clients, and the general public
  • Keen attention to detail with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines effectively
