    Role Summary:

    Unison Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aviation, is a world leader in the design & manufacture of electrical components, sensors and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine, military and space. Unison’s products span the globe and can be found on almost anything flying – from two place trainer airplanes to giant 747’s and rockets traveling to space.

    We presently have an opening for a 1st shift Inspector in our Sensors Department, working from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    In this role, you will:

  • Utilize manual or automated measurement and testing equipment to assure quality of products
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts, while using Oracle to maintain inspection records
  • Inspect all raw materials and purchased parts to determine conformance to design requirement
  • Use statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required
  • Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements
  • Assist support functions in root cause analysis
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products
  • Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience
  • Compliantly complete all written / electronic labor tracking documentation
  • Report problems to appropriate resource and / or Coach
  • Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up
  • Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of product deficiencies, new processes, or issues
  • Participate in and support team initiatives
  • Receive guidance from experienced employees
  • Train lower level employees, and work with limited supervision
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Education / GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Manufacturing environment


    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:


  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Ability and willingness to utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
  • Ability and willingness to use basic hand tools (dremel / cut off tooling) and measuring devices (i.e. – dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required
  • Ability and willingness to perform electrical test methods (ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hi pot, etc)
  • Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation, including functional knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Ability and willingness to pass visual acuity exam upon offer
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Braze, Weld, and Solder inspection certification(s) as required

    Desired Characteristics:

  • 1-3 years Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of Quality System requirements (AS9100)
  • Proficiency in understanding special process operations (e.g., brazing, soldering, welding, coating, etc.)
  • General knowledge of electrical components and test methods
  • Specific knowledge in Receiving, Electrical, or Mechanical Inspection
  • Prior experience in assembly, solder, or electronics manufacturing
  • Prior experience in a self-directed team environment
  • Lean manufacturing knowledge
