As a member of the Engineering team, you are responsible all tier 2 level support, maintenance, and repair events. This includes managing the day-to-day health of an IP/MPLS backbone infrastructure, new customer activations, and tiered internal support.

As a tier 2 support leader, the Network Engineer is responsible for all escalated trouble tickets, new service design architecture, and highly technical customer requests and will perform as a highly technical, hands-on engineer.

You will be evaluated for establishing an uptime record, team growth/development, monitoring of network health, handling both planned and unplanned network events.

The Network Engineer works hand-in-hand with the NOC and Engineering teams.

what you’ll do

Support 24×7 engineer on-call requirements

Ensure all elements of the network are functioning at an optimal performance level

Provide a single point of interface to internal and external clients on issues pertaining to our MPLS, Internet, VoIP, and other Managed Services

Identify customer technical problems and suitable solutions to resolve issues

Oversee network management systems and facilities management (including new and MACD port builds)

Tackle event, incident, problem and RFO management

Be responsible for service measurement, performance and reporting

Exhibit leadership and expertise of technical staff

Manage network/service architecture and operations, alarm structure and correlation

Be responsible for network/service quality metrics

ITIL – Service Operations

Vigilantly execute work and meet quality, productivity, turnaround time and other expectations

Contribute to continuous process improvement to ensure high level of customer satisfaction and to reduce disconnects

Maintain professional and technical up-to-date knowledge by reading periodicals and attending job-related seminars/courses

Perform other duties as assigned to support the continued success of self, team, department, and company

what you’ll bring to succeed

Bachelor’s degree required in a technical discipline (Network Engineering, Computer Networking or related field) and four (4) years of relevant experience

A Knowledge of SD-WAN would be suh-weet!

Strong technical expertise with three (3) years of hands-on experience in networking technologies with a particular subject expertise in applications networking, IP network hardware, routing protocols, high availability network monitoring, network security, and VoIP

Proven ability to develop and execute best practices

Strong communication, organizational, and trouble-shooting skills

MPLS, VPN, Layer 2/3, and Point-to-Point networks profiency

Proficiency with configuration and troubleshooting VOIP protocols (SIP, MGCP, Skinny, H.323)

Proficiency in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)

Knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 Addressing

Knowledge of Telecommunications environments and TDM circuits

Direct knowledge of Adtran, Cisco, Fortinet, Acme Packet and Broadsoft platforms

Ability to simplify and explain technical information to others

A practical understanding of telecom

Individual contributor and team player skills

Good project management skills

Availability to provide on-call support 24×7, including weekends
