Job Description

Network Engineer responsible for interfacing with internal customers to gather requirements, design and implement solutions which meet Bosch security requirements. Establish and lead topics with our vendors to schedule and activate WAN circuits, troubleshoot connectivity issues and establish proactive monitoring. Works within the global concepts and teams to provide a secure and stable network for our internal customers.

  • Monitor network components and connections to ensure availability as well as troubleshoot complex performance issues reported by customers or internal monitoring systems. This includes on-call availability for 24×7 operation.
  • Strong knowledge of WAN, MAN, and VPN technologies to support the deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of our extensive network which includes:

VPN Technologies – IPSEC, SSL, DMVPN, and GetVPN

Routing – Static, route maps, OSPF and BGP

Quality of Service (QoS)

Network Address Translation (NAT)

Network Optimization (NOS) – Cisco WAAS and Riverbed

  • General understanding of project management processes and terminology in order to best support our customers by implementing proper communication channels, meeting target deadlines, and documenting solutions.
  • Solid networking foundation to deploy and troubleshoot Layer 1,2, and 3 protocols as well as DNS, Proxy, load balancers, and security (ACL) related topics.
Qualifications

Required Skill Set:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or 8 years of commensurate experience in lieu of degree
  • Operational experience with Network Optimization services such as Cisco WAAS and or Riverbed
  • Superior technical understanding of LAN and WAN technologies (MPLS, MAN, VPN),
    including multiple network operating systems (IOS, HP OS, NX-OS) and
    hardware platforms such as Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, ASA, and HP
  • Network Protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC)
  • Working technical experience with installing, configuring, monitoring,
    troubleshooting, and supporting network components (LAN and WAN
    environment)
  • On-call availability for 24/7 operation


Preferred/Additional Skills:

  • Familiar with different WAN optimization strategies including Akamai, network prepositioning and content caching.
  • Experience with Cisco IWAN technologies
  • Certification in CISCO products, CCNA or higher preferred
  • Monitor network components to ensure availability; test backup, recovery, and emergency procedures
  • Participated in global and regional initiatives and self-checks: security audits,
    change management, incident management, asset management, run and
    operation tasks
  • Practice network asset management: maintenance
    of component inventory, related documentation and technical
    specifications information


The best candidates will:

  • Have previously installed and configured all network components following
    global concepts, including high availability implementations and complex
    installs
  • Be analytical, conceptual, and a problem solver
