Located on the Capitol Square in the heart of beautiful downtown Madison, the Wisconsin Department of Justice is seeking an experienced and innovative Network Engineer to join our team of IT professionals.

Information Technology at the Wisconsin Department of Justice is undergoing rapid transformation. As part of a comprehensive IT modernization program, the Department is seeking to leverage secure cloud and hybrid cloud solutions for new services—via redundant data center facilities co-located near major internet exchanges.

Position Summary:

The Network Engineer provides leadership and subject matter expertise in the design, implementation, and operations for Data Center, wide area network (WAN), local area network (LAN) and wireless technologies in support of the Enterprise Network. The Network Engineer analyzes data networking needs, to include recommending solutions, engineering, implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of the Enterprise Network. Responsible for daily monitoring of network equipment to identify problems, anticipate potential problems, and respond to active problems/issues. This role requires interaction with a cross-functional team of technology and business professionals including infrastructure, application development, business partners, and 3rd party subject matter experts to ensure that solutions are planned, developed, deployed, and maintained in accordance with criminal justice security, business requirements and business service level agreements.

Special Notes:

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOJ sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Justice will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOJ employees will be fingerprinted.

Qualifications: Minimally qualified candidates must have professional work experience in the following:
1. Extensive experience configuring and maintaining routing and switching in an enterprise environment
2. Experience in CISCO technologies such as DMVPN and network access control using ISE
3. Experience leading projects deploying new network technologies
