Contra Costa County’s Office of the Sheriff has one (1) vacancy for the Network Administrator I. This position reports to an Information Systems Project Manager and works closely with a small network team. This position offers the opportunity for significant contribution from start to finish whether it’s adding new virtual servers, or implementing new cloud-based solutions. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Understanding of enterprise IT in the Public Sector
  • Knowledgeable in both Network and Systems troubleshooting principles and practices, specifically in a CISCO based environment
  • A team player and collaborator

  • What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Works with different divisions to coordinate the design, development, acquisition and implementation of computer hardware, storage, software and data communications solutions
  • Monitors and maintains computer servers, Storage Area Networks, virtualization technologies, cloud technologies and communications systems
  • Uses standard analysis techniques to develop, design and implement solutions
  • Installs and configures computer hardware and software
  • Implements computer applications for different divisions
  • Retrieves data and assists with transitioning data/operations between systems
  • Administers remote logons, system security, data transfers, and remote activities

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, information processing or a closely related field.

    Network Administrator I:
    Experience: Three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent experience in designing, installing, and helping to maintain complex multi-site Network Server Operating Systems, Systems administration including storage, virtualization and cloud.

    Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four years.
