Required Qualifications:

* 1 or more years of professional work experience developing object oriented web applications using C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Web API, with Oracle or SQL Server as a backend.

* Excellent communication, customer service, teamwork, and issue resolution skills.

* Excellent problem solving and analysis skills.

* Willingness and demonstrated ability to continuously learn, improving technical and non-technical effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:

* 1 or more years of experience developing ASP.NET MVC and/or Web Forms Applications using C# and JavaScript/JQuery.

* 1 or more years of experience developing databases and creating complex queries using Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.

* Front-end development expertise. For example, experience developing Single Page Applications.

* Software testing expertise including unit testing, regression testing, system testing, load testing, and use of automated testing tools.

* 1 or more years of experience using object-relational mapping (ORM) tools.

* 1 or more years of experience administering IIS 8.

* Experience with Git based version control and issue tracking systems.

* Demonstrated aptitude for leadership.

Position Summary:

This position is located within the UW-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT), Application Development and Integration department, Web and Mobile Solutions (WaMS) group. This position is for an entry level .NET web application developer with a solid software development background, demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service, a love for consulting, and a passion for leveraging cutting edge technology to address our customer’s needs. As a consultant, the position serves customers all across the UW-Madison campus.

Primary high-level responsibilities are:

* Business Analysis – participate in the analysis of customer’s business requirements and high-level functional design of systems;

* Software Development – perform complex programming activities utilizing ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET Web Forms; conduct robust software testing;

* Software Support – Implement enhancements, perform regression testing, develop documentation, and troubleshoot/debug production systems;

* Project Management – lead all aspects of small to medium engagements with campus customers.

Responsibilities and Primary Activities

Programming to support remote interfaces and operation with 3 rd party software.

Programming to support Web interface development.

Work with outside contract engineering resources.

Maintain existing software, fixing bugs and adding new features.

Manage software revisions and documentation.

Assist in troubleshooting performance issues for both hardware and software.

Write requirements, specifications, test plans, and verification reports.

Perform software tests per test plans.

Work on a distributed team and provide clear written and verbal communication.

Create patent and other intellectual property disclosures.

Contribute to Next-Gen product team’s design effort.

Requirements

BS in Computer Science.

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a .NET language, preferably C#.

Must be familiar with Visual Studio and WCF.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience with database management system controls.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience with software engineering development methodologies.

Proof of ability to work in the US.

Preferred Experience

Programming experience with Asp .Net MVC.

Experience working for a manufacturing company.

Familiar with REST architecture and its application in Web services.

User interface development in C# or other .NET language.

Familiar with protocol development including Http, TCP using WCF, and Modbus.

ViZn Energy Systems is looking for highly capable and enthusiastic candidates to join the team on the development of a new line of energy storage products. This position is for a Software Engineer II reporting to the Sr. Director Product Development. This person will assist the software design effort to develop and commercialize new energy storage products. This position will provide programming to support remote interfaces and operation and Web interface development. It is required to have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a .NET language preferably C#. In addition, familiarity with Visual Studio and WCF is required. This is a hands-on position with the need to test/develop software for equipment and requires the ability to install and operate equipment to prove functionality.

Close work with the team comprised of engineers, scientists, product management, and senior management will be required. Level and compensation will be consistent with experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior experience in energy storage technology and are demonstrated successful multi-taskers.

ViZn Energy Systems (VES) is a Montana Corporation headquartered in Columbia Falls, Montana. VES is in the process of developing the next-generation grid storage technology, based upon a large-scale energy redox storage battery. The aim is to provide cost effective storage for renewable generation technologies and provide greater efficiency for the nation’s energy grid.
