JOB SUMMARY

The State of Arizona is developing a world class lean management system. The State has already experienced significant success leading project-based lean improvement efforts, and the next stage in our journey is to make continuous improvement part of a management system that takes an intentional approach to performance management, leader behaviors and problem solving.

GTO will empower state agencies to build a continuous improvement culture. GTO consultants will serve as subject matter experts in lean management methodologies to drive breakthrough results.

  • L eading continuous improvement engagements
  • Facilitating Kaizen events with cross-functional teams
  • Driving service, cost and quality improvements using formal process improvement methodologies such as lean and capacity planning
  • Obtaining and leveraging data to support recommendations
  • Comfortable with statistical concepts
  • Addressing impediments in implementation efforts
  • Developing internal training materials and product offerings to create a best-of-breed standardize tool kit tailored to the unique needs of state government
  • Building relationships with agency directors and senior operations managers to assist each agency with identifying opportunities and executing to close performance gaps
  • Mentoring and training junior consultants on GTO’s team and within state agencies in Lean tools and principles

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • At least 5 years of experience with continuous improvement processes
  • Ability to lead Kaizen events as a facilitator
  • Ability to lead projects in complex environments while balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Promote effective team development
  • Thrive in a challenging work environment to consistently deliver quality service to agencies and help them serve the citizens effectively
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering or Business Administration from an accredited college or university
  • Strong relationship building skills, program and project management and excellent organizational skill
  • Minitab, or a comparable statistical software package
  • Process improvement and management frameworks
  • Deploy lean as an operational manager
  • Promote effective team development and encourage collaboration across large federated environments
  • Strong program and project management skills and excellent organizational skills

Selective Preference will be given to candidates that possess:

  • A Graduate degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Operations Management or Engineering from an accredited college or university or a closely related field of study

Note: Driving Requirement : In-state travel is required. An acceptable driving record for the last 39 months is required including no DUI, suspensions or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. A copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required at the time of your interview, if an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months . Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
